We recommend you wait until at least the age of 25 before considering a hair transplant. This allows the hormones responsible for adult hair growth to stabilise. Early surgery can result in unnatural looking hair growth patterns.
A hair transplant is performed under a local anaesthesia and mild sedative. There should be little to no discomfort during the procedure with either FUT or FUE techniques. You’ll be awake throughout your procedure and we’ll schedule breaks, to ensure both patient and surgeon remain relaxed. We’ll only ever work with one patient in a day.
Most hair transplants involve moving scalp hair from the back and/or sides of the head to areas where it has been lost e.g., the front and top of the scalp. The hairs that are removed from the back of the head have no receptors for DHT (the hormone that causes hair loss) – so even if they are moved, they remain programmed to continue growing, and are therefore unlikely to fall out.
