TREATMENT
A hair transplant procedure is the choice of the patient alone and the patient agrees to any actions or conducts reasonably necessary to perform the treatment.
The patient understands the limitations of hair restoration surgery and the expected outcome of treatment prior to commencement.
A particular outcome cannot be guaranteed as results may vary between individuals.
Contact with the clinic is on weekdays only between 9am-5pm unless there is a medical emergency during out of hours.
Washing the head on day 7 must be done carefully by soaking the grafts with the shampoo provided. Each patient must NOT damage the grafts by aggressively washing and lifting any scabs from the scalp.
The grafts/donor area cannot be scrubbed at any point. You must soak the area for 30 mins before washing through using a jug and a gentle/soft method.
Pictures must be sent before and after each wash until all scabs have come off.
The patient understands that a hair transplant procedure merely transplants existing hair from the donor area to the recipient. This process does not have any control over the future, continued and progressive loss of existing hair on the scalp.
Hair transplantation is a medical redistribution procedure that moves your own natural hair from one area to another, it does not create any new hair, nor does it stop the balding process. The results of a hair transplant will depend on the ratio between the demand (balding area) and the supply, (size and density of the donor area), as well as on the patient’s natural healing ability. The final number of grafts transplanted is dictated by the surgeon only during the procedure – this can be due to larger grafts being used to benefit the patient – reducing the total number.
When undertaking the transplant, you are paying for our expertise and experience in hair restoration, but not for a specific result. All photographic examples shown in the consultation and/or marketing material are for illustration purposes only and the patient fully understands that no guarantee can be given as to the exact outcome of this or any other medical procedure. We do not guarantee a result as there are many biological and physiological factors during this process that cannot be controlled.
It is not possible to implant hairs too closely together as some space has to be allowed for healing. The patient can always elect to have further hair transplant sessions to add more density to an area or to cover larger areas, providing the surgeon deems it appropriate for his or her case. Most patients require 2 or more procedures.
The patient understands that there may be discomfort associated with the treatment. Other side effects may include bleeding, redness, numbness, crusting and swelling.
The patient understands that hair restoration procedures may result in detectable scarring. The clinic will undertake the procedure with the aim of minimising any potential scarring in the case of both FUE and FUT hair transplant procedures. After hair transplant surgery Scalp micro pigmentation may be needed to help camouflage scarring.
The patient understands that over the long term, the transplanted hair will mirror the behaviour of the hair in the donor region. This means that should the donor hair become thinner over your lifetime, so can the transplanted hairs. There is no guarantee that the transplanted hair will last a lifetime.
For best results, the patient must comply with our written and verbally given bespoke aftercare instructions, which may include medical treatments to halt further hair loss, attending suture removal and other post-operative appointments. All follow up appointments/ pictures sent for review are instigated by the patient. You agree to send weekly images for the first 4 weeks then monthly updates thereafter. In person reviews are scheduled by the patient after 6 and 12 months- based on availability. The patient must contact the clinic to book these respective follow up appointments.
The Hair Dr clinic will not be held liable for any associated costs connected with having aftercare or follow up treatment to deal with any possible complications, this includes travel, accommodation or economic costs to the patient relating to time taken off work or loss of potential earnings.
The Hair Dr clinic can provide a guideline as to how long any given procedure will take to complete. Due to numerous variables, the procedure may be shorter or longer than estimated.
The Hair Dr clinic reserves the right to cancel the procedure in the interest of patient safety in such cases where the patient is deemed to be under the influence of recreational drugs or alcohol. In such an event, the fees paid to the clinic will be non-refundable.
The fee of the procedure will be retained by the clinic in full if it is deemed that the patient has failed to disclose known medical conditions or other possible contra-indications to treatment to The Hair Dr clinic in advance of their procedure that subsequently results in the cancellation of their treatment in the interest of patient safety.
After the surgery the top of the hair CANNOT be cut/trimmed with clippers until after 12 months post operation.
The back and sides can be scissor cut only after 6 weeks after confirmation from the clinic.
Back and sides can be trimmed down to a grade 4 only after 12 weeks. Again after confirmation from the clinic.
The clinic must be contacted before any haircut/trimming is done and is not held liable for any damage done to the hair if the clinic has not been approached.
Hair loss is a progressive condition and most patients will require more than 1 hair transplant to achieve native density.
Hair loss is a journey and each patient must commit to a full medical regime which includes;
• Oral and topical Finasteride
• Oral and topical Minoxidil
• All Supplements – Biotin, Saw Palmetto, Vitamin D, Vitamin B, MSM & Zinc
• A washing regime which will be tailored based on healing process. Nizoral shampoo may need to added to benefit the scalp.
If the patient suffers from a dry/itchy scalp or frizzy hair, the full onus is on the patient to contact the clinic for further advice/guidance. All recommendations and treatments will be tailored for each patient.
All general advice will be tailored to suit individual needs.
